What is Resistance Training?
When people hear the words resistance training, working with weights comes to mind, but that’s not the case with Chad Robins.
While Robins can incorporate weight training into his clients’ programs, he uses more of what is called Functional Resistance Training. He combines a variety of exercises and training methods relieving pain not only during exercise, but in daily life.
What can you expect during a Resistance Training session?
Robins starts by sitting down with each client and goes over their health history, nutrition and discusses goals they would like to achieve with exercise. He also includes a Functional Movement Screen (FMS) assessment.
This is important because it lets Robins see what muscles are underactive or overactive and why someone might be experiencing pain in certain parts of the body when doing a particular exercise.
Functional resistance training is all about correcting movements that are causing pain and discomfort during exercising, therefore minimizing the risk of injury.
What are Robins’ three main objectives with clients?
Learning and teaching proper techniques
Relieving and preventing pain
Working on movement and flexibility
This experience will make exercising even more fun and pain-free. Robins is all about training people for the future.
